In the past whisky was traditionally made at home in small stills, all over the Lake District. To make this raw spirit drinkable, a mixture of Lakeland butter and sugar was added. In this case as butterscotch and burnt sugar-caramel.
It’s the butterscotch that is used as the basis of The Original Lakeland Liqueur taste, along with the caramel that gives the drink its smooth and warming taste.
Each bottle is hand filled, then a specially made cork inserted. Hot, black sealing wax is dripped onto the top of the cork and finished with the Hebridean seal.
