On the label this whisky states: 'This bottle is one of fifteen hundred with numbered and signed labels from Maj. P.R. Reid's Special Reserve bottled at Perth in the year 1981'. The distillery is long gone, but used to contribute to the Johnnie Walker blends. Jackson described it as aromatic, treacly and quite sweet, with dessert or after dinner. Number 1314, 75cl! Maj. Reid led the escape from Colditz.

Colour: dry white wine.

First nosing: rather fresh starting on some fruity notes like green apple, kiwi, pink grapefruit and also some sherry. Develops on cereals: grain, muesli… It goes on with some porridge, yoghurt, caramel. Whiffs of white pepper. Really fresh, fruity and lively, with some jolly nice yeasty notes. Oh, some nice and bold vanilla fudge developing after fifteen minutes or so.

Palate: the mouth feel is quite powerful, Some hot milk, brioche, yeast... Green vegetables, bitter beer (like Bombardier).

The finish green tomatoes and tealeaves
