Bruichladdich 20 yo 1986/2006 'Blacker Still' (50.7%, OB, first fill oloroso and port pipe, 2500 bottles)

The Bruichladdich 20-Year-Old 1986/2006 'Blacker Still' is a highly sought-after single malt whisky. Here are some tasting notes:

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Lots of sherry, coffee, chocolate and lots of prunes right at first nosing with a nice smokiness (burning leaves and wood). Notes of kirsch, Smyrna raisins, toffee, slightly burnt cake (brownies). Also something coastal, sea air… then pine needles. Very sherried, quite fresh and rather complex. Dried figs, ripe plums, juicy raisins, and homemade caramel pudding. Creamy vanilla, cinnamon, and almond milk, with hints of tropical fruits and citrus.

Flavor: Full-bodied, rich, and decadent. Dried fruits like raisins and figs lead the way, followed by white pepper, leather, and some oaky astringency. The sherry casks influence is evident and well-integrated. Smooth and velvety, with a rich mouthfeel.

Finish: Long and satisfying, with assorted dried fruits, mild oakiness, and a slowly drying character. Green notes of tomato vine and cucumber right at the end.

This whisky is a true gem, reflecting the craftsmanship and quality of Bruichladdich. A good version, for genuine sherry lovers.
