1997 Domaine Les Grandes Vignes Bonnezeaux Noble Selection 50cl

This incredibly viscous wine displayed off the charts sugar and concentration levels. But, for me, it was more of a wine to be admired than to be enjoyed. 

Grape variety 100% Chenin, from the Loire Valley

Brought by surprise by Jean-François Vaillant from the Domaine des Grandes Vignes during a "winegrower's meal" at La Verticale, this 1997 Bonnezeaux "Grain Noble" was so successful that we had to order some to satisfy the demand. 1997 is an incredible vintage for mellow whites. This bonnezeaux from the Domaine des Grandes Vignes is incredibly balanced. The sweetness is ultra ethereal. The aromas of quince and candied fruit are supported by the acidity of the vintage. To be enjoyed as a little delicacy. Big!?! Very big!!! This bonnezeaux can be kept for several more decades.
