Here are the tasting notes for 1989 Bruichladdich [Full Strength] Aged 16 years, 700ml, 56.1% vol:
Nose: Initially quite closed with a slight glue note and ephemeral florals like rose petals. Sweetness emerges with maple syrup and creamy honey, followed by musty components like an old dusty attic or damp cellar. Water brings out bergamot and brackish water.
Palate: Builds up slowly to a massive hit of peppery spice on the mid-palate, accompanied by a huge blast of sweetness, ginger, and honey. Red-berry fruitiness and a faint idea of peaty water with maritime salinity emerge after a few sips.
Finish: Clingy, oily sweetness with cocoa notes, ginger, pepper, honey, and fresh American oak.
This whisky is known for its powerful and intense character, making it a fun and bold experience for whisky enthusiasts.
