1980’s Harveys Bristol Cream Choicest Full Pale Sherry
1980’s Harveys Bristol Cream Choicest Full Pale Sherry
Pale Cream and Cream sherries are usually made from sweetened Oloroso's, but Harveys Bristol Cream is a blend of Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez wines and is of superiour quality.
Bristol Cream is a dark, complex amber sherry that has been blended and bottled in Jerez, Spain since 1796. It was wholly owned by John Harvey & Sons of Bristol until the 21st century acquisition.
A nice amber colour is what strikes you first. On the nose, this Sherry is sweet and nutty. The salinity you would expect from Sherry generally is not as apparent as the toffee, caramel and slight oak flavours. On the palate, Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry has a lot of sweetness, but is balanced enough not to be totally cloying or overpowering. It is relatively light in the mouth, and has pleasant flavours of raisins, prunes and caramel.
This is a sweet fortified wine, the sort that would traditionally be enjoyed with dessert.
