1973 Ayrshire ( Ladyburn) 31 Year Old Duncan Taylor Rarest of the Rare Lowland Malt Distilled Oct 1973, Bottled Nov 2004, 43.6% abv
This gorgeous 31 year old Lowland single malt was laid to rest at the Ladyburn distillery in October 1973 before being selected and bottled by Duncan Taylor & Co. Ltd for their Rarest of the Rare series in November 2004. Includes a miniature 50ml bottle of the same dram! Drawn from single oak cask number 5786 at a natural strength 43.6% ABV, this is one of just 197 bottles that comes in a wooden presentation case complete with signed COA. Ladyburn often released bottles under the Ayrshire pseudonym, but sadly whichever way you look at it the distillery was to cease production in the mid-1970s, resulting in this fine expression becoming even more and valued and collectible.
Nose: Some dry woody notes and faint garden spices like basil and rosemary
Palate: Rich, fruity and zesty; like a rich Christmas pudding
Finish: Lingering and pleasant, in exactly the same mood as the mouth
